Basic properties of glass as structural material and application standards

Basic properties of glass as structural material are presented, and relevant standards are given: American standard for glass ASTM E-1300-07, British standard BS 6262, and the European pre- standard prEN 13474. The American and British standards have been adjusted to the analysis of glass plates subjected to the continuous uniformly distributed load. The European pre-standard is based on the already known analysis according to the partial safety factor, and it differentiates the glass fill analysis from the load bearing glass elements.
